Ahmed Khan dealt with themes of security, gender, ethnicity and public
appearance. Drawing on his Pashtun background, he used a blue
shuttlecock burqa common in his hometown to symbolize a gendered and
ethnic persona, and disrupted it by wearing it and driving a motorbike
down the streets of Lahore. The public response was largely aggressive
and caused him to fear for his own safety. His experience wearing it while
driving allowed him to better understand what the garment means in a very
material and sensory way.
