ARSALAN AFZAL

Performance
Location: Walled City
Duration: 10 Mins

Arsalan Afzal took primary inspiration from deeply personal experiences of violence, while still maintaining a highly political imperative. His performance was extremely visual and sensory. He collected old newspapers concerned with the Army Public School Attack of 2014, covered them with chicken’s blood, and hung them by meat hooks in a butcher shop in the Walled City Lahore. Afzal’s last act of the performance was smearing his face with blood and walking out of the shop leaving the viewers extremely charged.
